Isabel Swanborough
Before joining Wilby Jones, Izzie had gained experience coaching sports while studying A-levels. As part of her sixth form studies, she spent a week of work experience at Wilby Jones, meeting with team leaders across the business to learn about different career paths. After discussing her ambitions with Simon and Ben, an opportunity arose that matched the type of apprenticeship she had been hoping to find, despite it not existing elsewhere in the market. At just 17 years old, Izzie accepted a full-time role at Wilby Jones, beginning an apprenticeship designed around her career aspirations.
As Wilby Jones' Accounts Assistant, Izzie splits her time between supporting the internal finance function for the R&D business and assisting the accounting team. She enjoys developing her skills, learning from colleagues across the business and gaining exposure to the commercial side of the company. Looking ahead, her goal is to become fully AAT and CIMA qualified by the age of 23, while continuing to progress her career at Wilby Jones. In the long term, she aspires to become a Finance Director or build and lead a business of her own.
Outside of work, Izzie spends much of her time training for and competing in karate. When she's not on the mat, she also enjoys coaching young children, teaching toddlers the fundamentals of rugby.
